CYBERBULLYING

We look for equality

Cyberbullying is the use of technology and the networks to intimidate physicologically. It  affects too many people, not only the ones that are shy, it also affects people with disavilitys or teenagers that like different things or have different ideas. The ones that are attacking are normally insecure people, and through the social networking they hide themselves. It normally occurs between children or teenagers whose parents do not control their actions on the Internet. Cyberbullying is more dangerous than physical bullying because the one that attacks is anonymous so it is really serious.

Cyberbullying is mostly caused because people is shameless and anonymous on social media, so they do what they wouldn’t do in the street. They lose respect and any filter that they would have with someone face to face. On social media, people say everything they think about the other person without caring if that person is going to read it or if it’s going to affect that person badly. Saying everything you think without a filter is not a virtue but a weakness, it’s impertinence.

We have interviewed one of our teachers about this aspect:

WHAT DO YOU THINK CYBERBULLYING IS?

Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices such as mobile phones, computers, tablets. It can occur through SMS, text and applications (apps), or online in social media, forums or gaming where people can view, participate in or share content.

DO YOU THINK THAT CYBERBULLYING HAS INCREASED BECAUSE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF  TECHNOLOGIES?

I think Cyberbullying has increased because of the use of mobile phone and networking sites  young people are using such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter... They share personal or private information that not only their friends can see. It's a pity because young people don't notice how dangerous posting and sharing photos and other private information is.
